Chapter 41
Jasmine commented, watching Serenity work on her craft. “I wish I had a talent like yours. I can barely make a scarf without messing it up.”
Serenity chuckled, a soft smile tugging at her lips. “It’s just practice. You can learn too, if you want.”
Nana sat down on one of the chairs near the counter, watching the two friends interact. “I’m amazed at how you’ve turned this into a business, Serenity. You really know how to make things happen.”
Serenity shrugged modestly. “I just take it one step at a time. Besides, it keeps me busy and it’s something I enjoy.”
“Are you planning to make this your full-time job?” Nana asked, her tone more serious now.
Serenity paused for a moment, considering the question. “I haven’t thought about it yet. It’s steady work, but I’m not sure I’m ready to make it my only focus just yet.”
Jasmine leaned in, looking interested. “I think it’s a great idea, Seren. You’ve got a knack for it, and it’s clearly working. Why not take the plunge?”
Serenity shook her head with a soft laugh. “It’s not that simple, Jas. It’s not just about selling things online. I’ve got to plan ahead, handle inventory, marketing, customer relations… it’s a lot more work than it looks.”
Nana nodded in understanding. “But you’re doing well. Just don’t forget that you can always lean on me if you need help.”
Serenity smiled warmly at Nana. “Thank you, Nana. I appreciate that.”
Jasmine watched them exchange a look and couldn’t help but feel a little envious of their close relationship. “I wish I had a grandma like you, Nana. You’re so supportive.”
“You’ll find someone who’s just as supportive when the time is right,” Nana replied with a wink.
As the conversation continued, Serenity’s thoughts drifted briefly back to her own situation—her unexpected marriage to Zachary, the contract, and the unspoken tensions that lingered between them. But for now, she pushed those thoughts aside, focusing instead on the simple pleasure of crafting and spending time with the people she cared about.
