Chapter 100
Liberty nodded, her expression hardening at the thought of their relatives’ twisted actions. “I’ll get it,” she said, her voice low as she stood and headed toward her bedroom. The weight of the situation seemed to press down on her, but she didn’t hesitate, walking quickly with purpose.
Serenity sat silently, her mind racing with all the steps she needed to take next. She couldn’t let the Hunts win this battle. The tweet had stirred up a lot of attention, but it wasn’t enough. She needed more, something concrete to counter their narrative and ensure they couldn’t escape the truth. The townspeople had been cooperative, but there had to be more—something to push them over the edge.
When Liberty returned, holding her diary in hand, Serenity’s eyes darkened with resolve. She reached for the book and flipped it open, her fingers moving over the familiar pages. “This should do the trick,” she murmured, her tone filled with determination. “If they want to play dirty, then we’ll give them a taste of their own medicine.”
Liberty sat down beside her, a troubled expression clouding her face. “I just want all of this to stop. It’s been years of their manipulation, and now they’re using us to get more money from us. I don’t even know how they can live with themselves.”
Serenity squeezed Liberty’s hand, her voice soft but firm. “We’ll make sure they don’t get away with it. Not this time. We have everything we need to show the world what kind of people they are.”
Zachary, who had remained quiet during the exchange, finally spoke up, his voice low but reassuring. “What do you need me to do?” His loyalty to Serenity was clear, and he was ready to support her in whatever way possible.
Serenity looked at him, her eyes full of gratitude. “We need to make sure everything we do is precise and without flaw. They won’t be able to twist the story again if we cover all our bases. Once we get everything out there, they won’t have any choice but to back off.”
Liberty’s gaze softened as she looked at her sister, knowing the battle ahead wouldn’t be easy. “I just want them to stop. I don’t want them to be able to use us anymore. I want this to be the end of it.”
Serenity smiled, reaching for her sister’s hand. “It will be. Together, we’ll make sure they have nowhere to hide. We’ve been through too much, and now it’s their turn to face the consequences.”
The two sisters shared a quiet, knowing glance. The storm was far from over, but with the evidence they had gathered and Zachary by their side, they felt a sense of empowerment they hadn’t had in years. They would take on whatever came next, prepared to fight back with everything they had. The battle for justice had only just begun, but this time, they were ready.
