Chapter_201
Damian’s chest heaved, his breathing becoming shallow as anger built inside him. He slammed the cup down on the table, the sound echoing sharply in the room, as he vented his frustration.
Yvette pressed her lips together, her eyes flashing with a murderous intent. A dark fury swirled in her gaze, and the atmosphere in the room thickened with tension.
Tyson, sensing the brewing storm, hurried to Damian’s side, eyeing Yvette warily. His heart raced with anxiety. Even when she was a teenager, Yvette could overpower me. Now, I wouldn’t stand a chance if she loses control, Tyson thought, feeling the weight of the situation.
Damian and Yvette locked eyes, the room growing still. Under her cold stare, Damian finally relented. He subtly gestured for Tyson to step aside, and Tyson did so, albeit reluctantly.
“I invited you here to talk, not to create tension,” Damian said, his voice taut with barely restrained frustration.
Yvette’s lips curled into a faint, mocking smile as she turned her gaze away. “Get to the point. If I stay here much longer, I’m afraid someone won’t be leaving alive today,” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Tyson’s back stiffened at the edge of her words.
Damian, realizing he was losing her patience, quickly got to the heart of the matter. “Nathan’s girlfriend—who’s just a month pregnant—is likely with you, right?” Damian asked, his eyes carefully studying Yvette’s face.
He leaned back slightly before continuing, “After all, the child she carries is of the Goodman family. It’s not right for her to drift aimlessly. You shouldn’t be involved in this. The Goodman family will take care of her. I’ve already looked into her background. She’s one of the founders and the brand designer for Vibe. Those aren’t the highest titles, but they’re respectable enough for a Goodman in-law. Don’t worry. Since she’s your friend, I’ll have Nathan find a good day for the marriage.”
Yvette tilted her head, her fingers lightly tracing the rim of her glass, her expression icy. “Who do you think you are? The Goodman family wants to marry Sienna off without even asking her?” she asked coldly.
Damian’s face darkened. He couldn’t fathom why any woman wouldn’t want to marry into the Goodman family. Unless she’s completely out of her mind, he thought.
Confidently, he continued, “Here’s the deal. Why don’t you call Sienna? I’ve already asked Nathan to be here. Let them meet and figure things out themselves. We’re not directly involved, so it’s better if they make their own decisions. How does that sound?”
Damian, knowing Yvette’s volatile personality, decided that a calm discussion would be more effective than forcing her into something.
Yvette paused, her gaze fixed on Damian. After a moment, she said slowly, “Alright.”
Without further hesitation, she pulled out her phone and sent a text to Sienna. Less than a minute later, she received a reply.
Sienna’s message read, “Got it, Yve. I’ll be there soon.”
Damian, now settling back into his chair, realized his coffee had gone cold. He stood and poured himself a fresh cup, his movements deliberate.
Meanwhile, Yvette had already pulled out her phone again, casually diving into a game of Super Mario, her fingers tapping rhythmically on the screen.
Tyson passed by and couldn’t help but glance at her, his lips twitching slightly in amusement. Is this game really worth spending time on? he wondered.
Nathan, in the midst of a meeting, received a call from Tyson. He quickly signaled for the meeting to pause and everyone to leave before answering.
“Hi Tyson, how’s it going? What brings you to call me today? Is something wrong with Grandpa?” Nathan asked, his voice steady, though there was a hint of unease in it.
Tyson replied, “No, Mr. Damian Goodman is at Royal Phoenix and wants to see you.”
He paused briefly before adding, “Yvette is here too. Mr. Damian Goodman wants to settle things personally between you and Ms. Sterling. It would be great if you could come over, Mr. Nathan Goodman.”
Nathan’s grip on the phone tightened, his expression changing in quick succession. He hadn’t expected Damian to learn about Sienna so quickly. Braydon’s right. Grandpa’s never truly planned to hand over control to us, Nathan thought bitterly.
“Okay, Tyson. I’m on my way,” Nathan said, his voice now colder. After hanging up, he tidied his appearance, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension at the thought of seeing Sienna soon. He was truly in love with her.
Before leaving, Nathan quickly texted Braydon to update him on the situation.
Meanwhile, at the entrance of Royal Phoenix, Sienna saw Nathan stepping out of his car. Her stomach sank. Is fate playing tricks on me? she thought. What are the odds of running into him here?
Originally, Frankie was supposed to drop her off today, but a last-minute issue had come up. With only Bruce at the villa, he was her only option for a ride.
Bruce was about to leave after dropping her off when he noticed Nathan. Seeing Sienna looking a bit uncertain and tense, Bruce hesitated, then stepped out of the car and approached her.
“Let’s go. I’ll walk you inside,” Bruce said softly, his expression calm but firm.
Sienna, caught off guard, looked up at him, a bit bewildered. But she nodded and followed him. Nathan, seeing her with another man, felt his anger flare. He quickly jogged over and reached out to grab her.
Bruce, noticing the move, blocked Nathan’s hand with ease, his demeanor cold and unyielding.
“Mr. Goodman, watch your hand,” Bruce warned, his voice firm.
Nathan realized he had missed his grab and pulled his hand back, his gaze darkening as he glared at Bruce.
“What’s it to you? Who are you?” Nathan snapped. “I suggest you don’t interfere.”
Turning his attention to Sienna, he softened his voice. “Sienna, has the baby been fussy these days? Has he been well?”
Without holding back, Sienna retorted sharply, “Nathan, stop pretending. How could a one-month-old baby be causing problems? Stop with the nonsense. What’s this devoted boyfriend act? And how’s your secretary, Linda?”
Sienna hadn’t intended to start a fight, but Nathan’s attitude had pushed her to her limits. She decided it was time to stop holding back.
Nathan’s face tightened, his heart skipping a beat, especially when she brought up Linda. Linda was nothing, just a distraction. But how did she find out about her?
Before he could explain himself further, Tyson appeared, coming down from the third floor.
“Mr. Nathan Goodman, Mr. Damian Goodman is waiting inside for you. Ms. Sterling is also in there. Please, follow me,” Tyson said smoothly.
He shot a cold glance at Bruce and added, “Unauthorized personnel are not allowed inside. My apologies, sir.”
Sienna looked nervously at Bruce, feeling a twinge of anxiety. This meeting with Nathan was no coincidence, she thought. Yve wouldn’t take advantage of me—she’s here to settle this between Nathan and me.
Bruce observed Tyson closely, sensing the martial arts energy emanating from him. This man is a fighter, Bruce thought.
Upon hearing Tyson’s words, Bruce’s mind raced. Could this be the same Damian Goodman, the infamous king of the underground world in Mysonna?
Bruce’s doubts deepened, but he decided to wait outside for them.
Ignoring Tyson’s words, Bruce turned back to Sienna, his tone softening. “Don’t worry. I’ll be right outside. Just call me if you need anything. With Yvette here, you’re safe. I’ll be waiting for all of you to go home together.”
Nathan’s expression soured, his fists clenching in frustration. What is going on between Sienna and this man? He wanted nothing more than to take Bruce down, but the situation demanded restraint.
Tyson glanced at the three of them, his expression unreadable, as he motioned for Nathan to follow him inside.
