Andrew’s eyes burned with fury as he seized Daniel by the collar, his grip firm and unyielding. The room went silent, every officer too stunned to intervene. Daniel, usually one to assert his authority, found himself utterly powerless under Andrew’s piercing gaze.
“In the isolation room?” Andrew repeated, his voice dangerously low. “Is that how you treat someone over a trumped-up charge? A concussion caused by your son’s tantrum?” His tone carried a blend of disgust and restrained rage.
Wyatt stepped forward, raising a hand in a calming gesture. “Andrew,” he said gently, “let’s not escalate things here. We’re in the police station.”
Andrew slowly released Daniel, shoving him back with disdain. “You’re lucky I have more respect for this building than you deserve,” he muttered. Then he turned to Wyatt. “If Yvette’s in that room, we’re getting her out now.”
Daniel straightened his collar, his face flushed with anger and humiliation. “This is completely inappropriate!” he barked. “I’ve followed procedure—”
“Procedure?” Andrew interjected sharply. “You mean fabricating stories to protect your spoiled son? Bribing people to destroy evidence? That’s your definition of procedure?” His voice echoed in the lobby, sending a chill through everyone present.
Daniel flinched but quickly masked his fear with indignation. “You have no proof of these accusations.”
Andrew smirked, his expression cold. “Do you really think everything you’ve done hasn’t been tracked? Or that no one has seen through your pathetic schemes?” He turned to the officers in the room. “Get Yvette out of that isolation room. Now.”
The officers exchanged nervous glances, unsure of whom to obey. On one side was Daniel, their superior, and on the other were Wyatt and Andrew—figures of undeniable authority and influence. The tension was palpable.
Wyatt stepped forward, his calm demeanor concealing an undercurrent of authority. “Officers,” he said firmly, “you’ve heard the request. It’s in everyone’s best interest to comply.”
Reluctantly, one of the officers nodded and hurried off to unlock the isolation room. Daniel watched helplessly, his authority crumbling before his eyes.
Moments later, the officer returned, guiding Yvette out of the isolation room. She looked calm, but her piercing gaze revealed she was anything but unaffected. Her clothes were slightly disheveled, and the faint lines of exhaustion marked her otherwise poised demeanor.
Andrew stepped toward her, his anger softening into concern. “Yvette, are you okay?” he asked, his voice gentler now.
Yvette nodded, glancing at Daniel with an unyielding expression. “I’m fine,” she replied. “Though I can’t say the same for people who think they can intimidate me.”
Daniel’s face turned a deep shade of red, but he said nothing. He was clearly outmatched and knew any further protest would only worsen his humiliation.
Andrew turned to Wyatt, a smirk playing on his lips. “I think we’ve made our point. Shall we leave?”
Wyatt nodded, placing a hand on Andrew’s shoulder to steer him away. “Yes, let’s. This matter has dragged on long enough.”
As they began to walk out, Andrew threw one last glance over his shoulder at Daniel. “You’ve embarrassed yourself enough for one day. Learn your place before you dig your grave any deeper.”
The group exited the police station, leaving behind a shaken Daniel and a room full of officers who would not soon forget the events of that day.
