Chapter_191
Hazel’s voice was full of warmth as she replied, “Ah, Sienna, you always come through with such timing. No, the submission deadline hasn’t passed yet—it’s actually next month. But I have a feeling you’re asking because you’ve got something up your sleeve, don’t you?”
Sienna smiled, a bit of nervousness creeping into her tone. “I think I’ve found something special. Something… new.” She hesitated, then added, “It’s a bit different from my usual work, though. I’m not sure if it’ll fit the competition standards.”
Hazel was quiet for a moment, and when she spoke again, there was a hint of excitement in her voice. “Sienna, listen to me. You have an eye for the extraordinary. If you believe in it, then it’s worth submitting. Trust yourself. You’ve never been the kind of person to blend in. Show them what you’re capable of.”
Sienna’s heart raced. Hazel had always been more than just a mentor; she was the one who helped Sienna find her own voice in the fashion world. Yet, Sienna couldn’t shake the feeling that this new collection, these designs that felt so different, might be too bold for the competition. They were more than just garments—they were pieces of art, each telling its own story. They had Yvette’s signature touch written all over them.
But should she submit them under her own name? Or should she share the glory with Yvette? The dilemma gnawed at her.
“I’ll think about it,” Sienna said after a moment, though she knew deep down that the answer was already forming. She couldn’t let this opportunity slip by, not with such a unique vision in her hands.
“Take your time, darling. But don’t overthink it. You know what to do,” Hazel said with a knowing tone, before adding, “And remember, don’t be afraid to take risks.”
Sienna ended the call, a determined glint in her eyes. She had to make a choice—and she knew what it would be. She’d submit the designs, and if she had to step into the spotlight, she would. It was time to carve her own path, and perhaps, just perhaps, give Yvette the recognition she deserved, too.
She took a deep breath, already planning how she would refine the designs for the competition. But she knew she couldn’t do it alone. She needed Yvette’s touch, even if it was behind the scenes. Sienna smiled to herself, imagining the buzz the collection would create once it was revealed. If she could pull it off, it could launch both of their careers into the stratosphere.
Meanwhile, Yvette was speeding down the street in her car, the hum of the engine accompanying her thoughts. Flying Fish’s message about the person they had rescued wasn’t something to take lightly. She’d been so wrapped up in her own world recently, the challenges with her art and her unexpected interactions with Jeremiah, that she’d nearly forgotten about the larger issues at play.
But Flying Fish wasn’t someone to panic unless there was a real threat. Yvette’s mind raced as she thought of who it might be. A rescue operation? What had gone wrong?
She quickly parked her car near the facility, her instincts on high alert. As she stepped out of the car, her sharp eyes scanned the building, taking in every detail. There was a sense of urgency in the air, and she didn’t waste any time heading straight inside.
Once in the lab, she found Flying Fish pacing by the door. His usually calm demeanor was gone, replaced with barely contained tension. As soon as he saw her, he nodded sharply, leading her into the back where they had been working on their current project.
The person they had rescued was lying unconscious on a table, hooked up to various monitors. Yvette’s brow furrowed as she approached, taking in the situation. Flying Fish quickly filled her in.
“We managed to get them out, but the trauma—it’s worse than we expected. They’re not responding to the treatments like we thought they would. There are signs of… manipulation. Their body’s been altered in ways that we didn’t anticipate.”
Yvette glanced at the individual on the table, her mind immediately trying to piece together what had happened. This wasn’t just an ordinary case of someone in need of medical aid. It felt deeper—darker. Her instincts told her this wasn’t the first time someone had been experimented on like this.
“We need to act fast,” she said, her voice calm but with a layer of authority. “If their body’s been tampered with… it could be a ticking time bomb. Let’s double-check their blood work and make sure we’re not missing anything.”
Flying Fish nodded and moved to the nearby computer, tapping in commands while Yvette examined the person closely. She could feel the weight of the situation pressing on her shoulders. Whatever was happening here, it was connected to something bigger—and she had no idea how deep the rabbit hole went.
Her mind wandered back to the designs she’d left behind. Sienna had been so eager to show them off. She was good—very good. Yvette couldn’t deny that she’d seen a spark in Sienna that made her believe she could one day make a name for herself in the fashion world. But as much as she’d like to focus on that, her responsibilities came first.
Just as she turned to speak to Flying Fish, her phone buzzed. It was a text from Sienna.
“Yve, you might want to check out Vibe’s social media. I think we’re about to make a huge splash.”
Yvette’s lips twitched into a smile as she read the message. She had no doubt that Sienna was onto something big—she always was. And maybe, just maybe, it would be exactly what they both needed to step into a new chapter of their lives.
But for now, there was no time to think about that. There was someone in that lab who needed her, and that was all that mattered.
Back at the table, the guys were still trying to make sense of Sienna’s sudden exit. Chris looked down at his phone, trying to process the revelation about Vibe.
“Did anyone else catch the part where Sienna’s actually part of Vibe?” Frankie asked, still stunned by the news.
Bruce leaned back in his chair, his mind racing. “It’s more than just a ‘small’ company. That brand is one of the hottest names in haute couture. Whoever wears a piece from Vibe is pretty much royalty in fashion circles.”
Emmett smirked. “I told you Frankie, custom designs come with a price. You better be ready to shell out some serious cash if you’re planning on getting one of her creations.”
Frankie laughed, rubbing his hands together. “Alright, alright. I get it now. You guys were right—Sienna’s no joke.”
As the conversation continued, none of them knew that Sienna was about to make a decision that would change everything—for herself, for Yvette, and for everyone involved. The world of fashion was about to collide with a hidden underworld, and they were all going to be part of it whether they knew it or not.
