Chapter_129
Sienna’s words hung in the air like a dark joke, but the intern didn’t find them funny at all. Her eyes widened in terror as she crumpled to the floor, her body shaking uncontrollably. Her knees hit the cold, hard surface with a thud, and she desperately tried to hold back her sobs.
Yvette, however, remained calm. She had been sipping her coffee, completely unfazed by the situation. Her gaze flicked over to the intern, then to Sienna, her lips curling into a faint smile.
“No need to kill anyone,” Yvette said with an amused, almost bored tone, setting her cup down with care. “But I do think she’s made quite a mess. Perhaps a lesson in discretion is in order?”
The intern’s face went pale as she scrambled to pick up the broken foundation bottle, her hands shaking with fear. She muttered an apology, her voice barely a whisper. “I’m so sorry, Ms. Zeller. I didn’t mean to—”
Sienna smirked, clearly enjoying the dramatic display. “It’s alright,” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “As long as you’ve learned your place.” She shot a look at Yvette, clearly amused by the power she wielded in this moment.
Yvette’s eyes flicked back to the intern, her expression still unreadable. She said nothing for a few seconds, just watched the girl scramble to clean up her mess. “You can go now,” Yvette said at last, her voice cold and final.
The intern, still trembling, nodded quickly and bolted out of the room as fast as she could, eager to escape the oppressive atmosphere. Sienna’s eyes followed her until the door clicked shut, and then she turned back to Yvette, a playful gleam in her eyes.
“That one is going to be a problem,” Sienna mused, tossing herself onto the couch beside Yvette with a casual grace. “But I imagine she’ll think twice before messing with you again.”
Yvette raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued by Sienna’s casual demeanor. “You certainly have a way with people,” she said with a hint of admiration.
Sienna shrugged nonchalantly. “It’s all about knowing how to handle them. And if they can’t handle it, well, it’s their problem.”
Yvette chuckled softly, her gaze still sharp. “I suppose you’ve dealt with your share of troublesome people then.”
Sienna leaned back, stretching her legs out, clearly comfortable in Yvette’s presence. “Oh, definitely. But I have a feeling you’re not exactly someone who needs my protection.”
Yvette smirked. “I can take care of myself.”
The two of them exchanged a knowing look, an unspoken understanding passing between them. Sienna had already seen what Yvette was capable of—how she had handled Tony, and now this intern. It was clear that Yvette wasn’t someone to be underestimated.
“How’s the rest of your day looking?” Yvette asked, leaning back in her chair and relaxing.
Sienna paused for a moment before replying, “Better now. I’m just happy I could help take care of the mess downstairs. But I’m more curious about what happens next with you. You’ve got a lot of people underestimating you, but I think that’s about to change.”
Yvette gave a slow, calculating smile. “I’m just getting started.”
With that, the tension in the room seemed to dissolve, replaced with a shared understanding of the power they both held. They were allies in a world full of people who didn’t know what they were dealing with.
As the door to the room closed behind them, leaving the faint echoes of the earlier drama behind, Yvette couldn’t help but feel a sense of anticipation. This was just the beginning.
Sienna was right: things were about to change.
