Chapter_176
Half an hour later, a heavy motorcycle pulled up to the curb with a growl of the engine.
Yvette swung one long leg off the bike and removed her helmet, drawing the attention of the passersby around her.
She stood casually on the sidewalk, her sharp, elegant features carrying a subtle, icy detachment. Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out a piece of vanilla toffee, unwrapped it with deliberate slowness, and popped it into her mouth, indifferent to the gazes of awe that followed her every move.
Sienna spotted Yvette immediately in the crowd. Without hesitation, she dashed over, arms outstretched in a spontaneous attempt at a hug.
But just as she was about to reach her, Yvette extended a finger, tapping Sienna lightly on the forehead. Her gaze was indifferent, and a small, playful smile tugged at the corners of her lips.
Sienna, surprised but undeterred, took a couple of steps back, letting out a dramatic sigh. “It’s so challenging to take advantage of you…”
Without another word, Yvette turned, casually tossing the helmet from her bike in Sienna’s direction. “Put it on.”
Sienna obeyed without question, donning the helmet and clambering onto the back of the motorcycle. Together, the two women made an impressive sight—two stunning figures on a heavy bike, the very picture of cool defiance. The few people still lingering on the street couldn’t help but throw furtive glances their way, clearly envious of the scene unfolding before them.
As Yvette revved the engine and sped off, the crowd’s admiration turned to curiosity. Some even regretted not stepping forward to ask for their contact details.
The motorcycle surged forward, cutting through the streets at a speed over one hundred miles per hour. Yvette’s grip on the throttle was steady, unflinching. But under her helmet, her eyes flicked to the rearview mirror, narrowing slightly as a mischievous smile crept onto her lips.
Someone was following them.
When they reached an intersection, Yvette suddenly twisted the throttle, sending the motorcycle hurtling faster. The black sedan that had been tailing them was no match for her speed, its tires screeching as it tried to keep up. In mere seconds, Yvette and Sienna were far beyond its reach, the sedan left choking on exhaust fumes and disappearing from view.
Inside the sedan, Nathan’s face darkened as he watched the motorcycle vanish into the distance. His dark eyes flashed with frustration. She actually knows Sienna? he thought, the realization dawning. Her presence means that even if I find Sienna today, if she doesn’t give in, there’s no way I can bring her back.
The thought weighed heavily on him. He hadn’t expected Sienna to have such formidable allies.
At the villa, Bruce sat in his study, eyes glued to the computer screen, tracking the volatile shifts in Mysonna’s stock market. Several stocks he’d been watching had hit their price limits, day after day. Something didn’t feel right.
Am I overthinking this? he wondered, but a gnawing unease remained.
Meanwhile, Emmett and Chris were out handling other tasks, leaving only Bruce upstairs.
On the ground floor, Frankie had been glued to the sofa all morning, completely absorbed in a video game. So absorbed, in fact, that he’d skipped lunch.
Just as Yvette and Sienna entered the villa, Frankie was cheering on his screen, arms waving in the air with excitement. Neither Yvette nor Sienna moved, watching him in silence.
Sienna, still amused, tugged at Yvette’s sleeve. “Boss, is your friend some kind of shaman or is there something off with his mind? He seems… kind of out of it.”
Yvette gave her a sideways glance, then shrugged. “He’s perfectly normal.”
At that moment, Frankie was startled by Yvette’s voice and blurted out, “Who? Who’s not normal?”
Sienna glanced over at him. He was now quiet, his face carrying an air of youthful immaturity.
Yvette walked straight to the sofa, sat down, and casually crossed her legs, propping her arm on the armrest. Frankie, without missing a beat, hurried to the bar and poured Yvette a glass of warm water, handing it over with both hands. His movements were smooth, almost practiced.
Sienna watched, speechless. Is this what Yvette likes? A loyal young boy and his powerful boss? The scene was so awkward that Sienna quickly decided not to think too deeply about it.
But, she couldn’t help but think, the man I saw at the Seacrity banquet seemed more fitting for Yvette. The one in front of her now certainly didn’t seem all that sharp.
Once Frankie finished serving Yvette, he turned to Sienna with a curious look. “Yve, is this your friend?”
Yvette took a sip of her water, her features softening slightly as she relaxed. Her voice, however, remained steady and calm. “Yeah. She’ll be staying here for a while. I’ll take care of everything for her.”
Frankie, surprised by how casually Yvette spoke about her, mentally noted just how much Sienna seemed to matter to her.
Sienna, keen on making a good impression, flashed Frankie her signature sweet smile. “Hello, I’m Sienna.”
Frankie snapped out of his casual demeanor, his tone now more formal as he shook her hand. “Hello, I’m Frankie. Yvette’s already told me about you. Make yourself at home here. The others are out or busy, but you’ll meet them at dinner. If you need anything, just let me know, and I’ll take care of it. Don’t hesitate to ask.”
Sienna smiled shyly, feeling somewhat at ease with Frankie’s warmth.
Frankie couldn’t help but notice how attractive Sienna was. His eyes lingered a moment longer before he casually asked, “Yvette, where do you find all these beautiful people?”
Yvette raised an eyebrow at him, then let out a soft chuckle, resting her chin in her hand. “You’re one to talk.”
As the conversation continued, Sienna and Frankie began to hit it off, joking about becoming best friends. Yvette watched them for a moment, amusement flickering in her eyes. She leaned back, her voice casual, “Mind if I join you?”
Without a second thought, both Sienna and Frankie answered in unison, eager to have the moment to themselves. “No way!”
Yvette lowered her gaze, a faint smile playing on her lips. Well, that’s just great, she thought, feeling a little ridiculous for being so easily rejected.
Despite the playful rejection, Frankie and Sienna carried on chatting, their bond growing as they swapped stories. Eventually, Frankie learned about Sienna’s troubled relationship with her boyfriend, Nathan, and how he had tried to trap her when she wanted to break up. Frankie, clearly annoyed by the situation, cursed Nathan for being a jerk.
“If I were you, I’d poison him and let him die. That’d teach him a lesson,” Frankie said bluntly. “You’re too soft-hearted, Sienna. A woman has to be tough. You’re just getting started.”
Sienna’s eyes sparkled at Frankie’s words. She nodded eagerly. “You’re absolutely right. I’d love to poison him, but his brother is a psychopath. If I get caught, it’s game over for me.”
Sienna recalled Nathan’s chilling warning about the 108 methods his brother Braydon used to punish people. The thought sent shivers down her spine.
Just as the conversation grew more heated, Yvette’s phone suddenly rang, breaking the mood.
