Chapter_75
Tiana’s heart pounded in her chest, her mind racing to process the chaos unfolding before her. Betrayal, heartbreak, and rage swirled together, forming a storm that threatened to overwhelm her. She struggled against the men holding her, the ropes biting into her skin as she fought with all her might.
“Gunner, how could you?” Her voice trembled with raw emotion, her eyes pleading for the man she had once trusted. But he remained silent, his face a mask of guilt and indecision.
Stella, now fully dressed, watched with a cruel, self-satisfied smile. “It’s too late for that, darling,” she said, her voice dripping with venom. “Gunner and I have been enjoying our little secret for months. Whitney knew about it, but she kept it from you. She didn’t want to cause you pain. But it looks like you’ve been the fool all along.”
The words hit Tiana like a slap to the face. Her hands trembled as she looked at Gunner, the man who had once promised her the world, now standing by in silent complicity. The betrayal was so deep, so cruel, she couldn’t fathom it. She had trusted him, loved him, and now—this?
“Stop it!” Tiana shouted, her voice hoarse with emotion. “You—both of you—are nothing but liars and backstabbers!”
One of the men holding her roughly pushed her toward the center of the room, and Tiana staggered but caught herself, glaring at them with fierce defiance.
“Let me go! What are you going to do to me?” she demanded, her voice rising with a mix of fear and anger.
Stella’s smirk widened as she glanced at the men, then back at Tiana. “What do you think we’re going to do? Whitney is already being set up for the fall, and now it’s your turn. Gunner here is already on my side. I think you need to learn what happens to people who get in the way.”
Tiana’s stomach churned as realization sank in. This wasn’t just about her broken heart. This was something far worse—something more dangerous. She had been walking into a trap, and now she was caught in the middle of it. Gunner’s indifference, Stella’s cold cruelty—it was all part of a bigger game. And she was the pawn.
“Gunner!” Tiana called out one last time, her voice laced with desperation. “What happened to you? What happened to us? Is this really who you are?”
But Gunner didn’t answer. He turned his eyes away, his silence more telling than words could ever be. The betrayal was complete, and the man she had once loved was lost to her, absorbed into the twisted world of deceit and manipulation Stella had created.
With one last desperate cry, Tiana kicked and struggled as the men tightened their grip on her. She could feel the tears welling in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. She wasn’t going to let them see her break.
Suddenly, the door slammed open with a loud crash, and Tiana’s eyes snapped toward it in shock. A figure stood in the doorway, silhouetted by the light from the hallway. It was Simon.
“Tiana!” he called, rushing toward her, his voice filled with urgency.
“Simon, get out of here!” Tiana shouted, her heart racing. “They’re going to hurt me. Get help—please!”
Stella’s eyes narrowed. “You think he can save you? Don’t make me laugh. You’re mine now, Tiana. And nothing’s going to change that.”
Simon, undeterred by Stella’s venomous words, shot a look at Gunner, his face hardening. “What the hell is going on here, Gunner? How could you do this to her?” His voice was low but seething with anger.
Gunner remained silent, his face a mask of guilt and regret.
Tiana’s breath caught in her throat as the three men holding her moved forward, ready to do whatever they had been instructed. But before they could act, Simon reached into his jacket and pulled out his phone, dialing a number with swift precision.
“Stop them!” Simon ordered urgently, his voice shaking with fury. “I need backup, now!”
Tiana’s eyes filled with hope. Maybe, just maybe, there was a way out of this after all.
But as the men began to move toward her again, the door behind Simon suddenly swung open with another loud crash. This time, the sound was followed by a powerful voice, booming in the room with authority.
“Step away from her,” a familiar voice commanded. It was L.
Tiana’s heart leapt in her chest. L had arrived. The cavalry had come.
L strode into the room, his cold gaze sweeping over the scene. His presence alone made the air feel thicker, charged with intensity. The men holding Tiana immediately froze, unsure of what to do.
“Let her go,” L repeated, his voice calm but laced with a quiet threat that made the men hesitate.
Simon stepped back, his expression shifting to one of relief as he joined L. “L, you’re here. Thank god. These people—they’ve been holding Tiana captive.”
L’s eyes flicked to Gunner, then to Stella, his gaze sharp and calculating. “You’re making a huge mistake, all of you.”
Stella sneered, trying to put on a brave face, but there was no mistaking the fear in her eyes. “You think you can just waltz in here and stop me?” she spat, though her bravado was crumbling with every passing second.
L’s lips curved into a cold smile. “I don’t think. I know.”
With a swift movement, he turned to the men, his voice dropping to a deadly whisper. “Leave. Now.”
The men hesitated, then slowly backed away, clearly intimidated by L’s commanding presence.
Tiana, still trembling, was finally freed from their grip. She rushed to Simon’s side, her heart pounding in her chest, but her eyes were fixed on L. “Thank you,” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
L gave her a small, reassuring nod before turning his gaze back to Gunner and Stella. “This ends now. No more games.”
Tiana could hardly believe it. It was over. For now, at least. But she knew that things were far from finished. Monica, Elaine, and the others were still out there, plotting their next move. But for the first time in what felt like forever, she felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, she had a chance to fight back.
