Chapter_153
As Ludwik and his team moved through the sterile corridors of the hospital, each step seemed to echo with the weight of what was unfolding. The tension in the air was palpable, and Ludwik’s resolve was ironclad. Felix, ever the observant one, walked silently at his side, his mind racing to keep up with Ludwik’s thinking. They had barely exchanged a word since leaving Braxton’s room, but the unspoken understanding between them was enough.
Ludwik’s thoughts were sharp, like a blade honed to perfection. The sense of urgency pressed on him, the political stakes rising higher with every passing moment. His rival, Orion, had played a dangerous game, and now Ludwik had to turn the tables. It wasn’t just about business anymore; it was about survival, and Ludwik had no intention of losing.
Felix spoke again, breaking the silence, his voice quieter this time. “Mr. Lippert, I’ve been thinking. If Orion is involved in this… we need to be careful. The man’s always had a way of staying in the background. We might be walking right into a trap.”
Ludwik’s eyes narrowed. “I’m counting on that,” he said with a cold smile. “Orion thinks he can outplay me from the shadows. But what he doesn’t realize is that I’ve been one step ahead this entire time.”
Felix didn’t respond right away, but the doubt was there, buried in his gaze. He knew Ludwik had a reputation for calculating every move, but this was a dangerous game. Still, he had no doubt that Ludwik would see it through, whatever the cost.
As they approached the exit, Ludwik paused for a moment, glancing at the hospital’s sterile environment one last time before stepping into the waiting car. His mind was already racing with the next move. He could feel the pieces of the puzzle shifting, falling into place, but the questions remained—how far did Orion’s reach go? Who else was involved in this plot? And most importantly, who could he trust?
His phone buzzed, pulling him from his thoughts. He glanced at the screen and saw a message from an unknown number:
“I know who’s behind it all. Call me if you want to stop the game before it’s too late.”
Ludwik’s fingers hovered over the screen, then he typed a quick reply:
“Who is this?”
A few moments passed before the reply came:
“Someone who can help you take down Orion. But first, you need to be ready to play the game at my pace.”
Ludwik’s jaw tightened. He didn’t trust easily, and he certainly didn’t like people playing games with him. But this could be the break he needed. He had to know who was pulling the strings.
He turned to Felix, his voice firm. “Get me everything you can on this number. I want to know who’s trying to make contact with me. But be discreet.”
Felix nodded, his expression hardening with determination. “I’ll get on it right away.”
Ludwik’s thoughts lingered on the message. He had no illusions about the gravity of what lay ahead. Orion wasn’t his only threat. If there were more players in this game, if this was bigger than he had realized, Ludwik would need to be ready for anything.
As the car sped off into the night, Ludwik’s mind turned over the possibilities. He had made many enemies over the years, but Orion was the one who had crossed the line. Now, he was going to make sure the line was redrawn, once and for all.
The storm was far from over. But Ludwik was prepared for the war that was coming.
And when the pieces fell, he would be the one standing on top.
